I am just about to start work on a big wall in Geist for a homeowner that wants his great room wall turned into a beach scene. I am waiting to hear back from my next SAILOR JERRY installment out at RICK"S CAFE BOATYARD. I am planning this year's entry for IRVINGTON. I have a little charicature project that I'm working on for the staff at one of my FAVORITE Ripple haunts: BINKLEY'S. All that on top of the fact that JUNE was ridiculously busy at the sign shop (biggest sales month we have ever had) and with the painting I did (below) for my dear aunt Deb explains why I have been missing for a while. I know that I have to make the blog a priority, but it is pretty hard to carve out the time sometimes.. excuses, excuses.
But what is important is the HERE AND NOW, right? I have a little bit of eye candy for you- not much but a little bit.. Below is the painting I did for my cousin's birthday. It is the chapel at WABASH COLLEGE. Tough one because I was not made to paint architecture (no likey the straight lines), but turned out great and very happy with it. Joel even said there may be a market out there for this type of stuff- evidently the WABASH crowd really likes it! So if any of you happen to know someone.. huh? huh?
Anyway, the really intriguing thing about this one is in the bottom right corner. It sems that I subconciously channeled some mystical force and wrote my mom's name down there in my brushmarks... WEIRD! Even kind of looks like her handwriting. Now, admittedly, I did put in some late hours working on this- but I didn't even notice it until Deb pointed it out to me. Now, of course, it is the first thing I see. It is certainly strange how the body works when the creative mind takes over. Zoom in and have a look for yourself- do you see it?
