Thank you all for the tireless voting efforts you put in! That helped me make the initial cut down to 32 paintings. I found that out at the pre-show gallery at INDY CD & VINYL on Friday. From there we went to grab a beer and some food. What a thrill to see my painting made the cut.. especially after the heartbreak of last year.
The Hour and a half of on site voting to narrow the field to 16 paintings went excruciatingly slow, but after the show started at 10, it was just a whirlwind of a night. I wasn't sure if I had made it to the TOP 16, but I was hopeful because I did not see my piece sitting at the sales booth with the others that did not make the cut.. Didn't NECESSARILY mean that I had made it.. Was it behind another painting? Did someone buy it already? I wasn't sure, but the anticipation was about to kill me!
The MC drew the numbers for each painting out of a skull, brought out by burlesque girls, backed up by the music of a full band with a brass section and backup singers. This is really quite a show... WAIT! DID HE JUST SAY 65?!? I MADE IT TO THE STAGE! MY FIRST TIME!! INCREDIBLE!!
No sooner had he called out the numbers for the 2 paintings, they were sitting on stage under the bright spotlights.. awaiting the vote and their possible destruction.. The first battle was a blowout- 'Season Appropriate Scarecrow' was moving on to ROUND 2.. AMAZING!!
The vote in round 2 was closer, but 'SAS' won again!
Then another victory in round 3... Can this really be happening?? I can't believe I am in the FINALS!
So, for those of you who missed it, here is the final vote and a taste of this truly one of a kind event (HUGE THANKS to Billy Fulk for capturing the moment of truth on his phone).
65 wins wins wins!!!!!!
