Well, about the end of April, I hit a wall and couldn't find inspiration, I had no focus and couldn't seem to organize my thoughts and sketches into any solid ideas that I was really excited about, so that made me fall way behind on my painting schedule, and with the deadline for registration looming, I had to make a decision. I did some serious soul-searching and here is the big bottom line: I will not be showing at GEN CON INDY this year. Got lots of things happening this year- the day gig, networking, planning and marketing, house projects, the big birthday project,,, WOW- i'm swamped. There was no way I was going back to GEN CON with no new pieces to show, and there was no way I would have the time to create the number and quality of pieces that I wanted to.. no choice but to skip it.
I will be at the con because I can't stay away (I've got too much geek in me). And I will be back behind a table again- maybe as soon as next year- but I decided that it is better right now to take what little time I have and focus on the MURALS. This was NOT an easy decision.. in fact, I'm still tortured by it. The fantasy art has been a HUGE part of my life for so long, and probably the only reason I am still creating art anymore. I know I am really going to feel it in a couple weeks when I'm down there, but I'm hoping to pick up some of that energy and use it in my marketing efforts. I have been out meeting people, spreading the word, and most importantly trying to connect with the right people.
Just another one of those crossroads we all face in life..
This is going to work..
Stay tuned..
